This was the fourth call in a series of calls coordinated by The National Early Childhood TA Center (NECTAC) in collaboration with: OSEP Preschool LRE Community of Practice, and The National Professional Development Center on Inclusion.
This conference call explored the multi-tier Recognition and Response model (R&R) which represents a translation of RTI for use with 3 to 5 year olds with learning difficulties in early childhood settings. The call will provide a description of the origin of R&R and the rational for using a multi-tier model for early intervening. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about methods of universal screening and progress monitoring as part of an integrated assessment plan and to review instructional support strategies within the three-tier model.
After listening to the presentation, participants had an opportunity to ask questions and participate in a discussion with the presenters and their colleagues.
Objectives
- Participants will understand the conceptual framework for Recognition and Response (R&R)
- Participants will gain an understanding of the origin and context of the development of the Recognition and Response Approach as it relates to the Response to Intervention Framework (RTI)
- Participants will learn about other existing tiered intervention approaches used in the early childhood field.
- Participants will identify key considerations for implementing & evaluating R&R in early childhood
