    ZERO TO THREE recently published a new report entitled, Early Learning Guidelines for Infants and Toddlers: Recommendations to States, by Sandra Petersen, Lynn Jones, and Karen Alexander McGinley. The report provides recommendations to states on developing or revising research-based early learning guidelines for infants and toddlers.   2. Guidance in Choosing Developmental Screening Instruments

    The Commonwealth Fund has released a new manual entitled Pediatric Developmental Screening: Understanding and Selecting Screening Instruments, by Dennis Drotar, Terry Stancin, and Paul Dworkin. It is based on a comprehensive review of scientific research and is meant to assist providers in selecting and using screening instruments that are appropriate for their practice settings.   3. New FPG Snapshot - Technology Stereotypes Broken When Children’s Health Involved

    A new FPG Snapshot summarizes the results of a study looking at Internet use among mothers of children with genetic disorders. Findings demonstrated that 69 percent of mothers with family incomes less than $30,000 per year and 66 percent of mothers with a high school degree or less turned to the Internet as a major resource for information about diagnosis, prognosis, treatments, services, and supports.   4. Promoting Healthy Families in Your Community: 2008 Resource Packet

    In preparation for National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, the Children's Bureau has released Promoting Healthy Families in Your Community: 2008 Resource Packet. The packet offers guidance for service providers on promoting awareness of key protective factors when working with families to prevent child abuse and neglect and includes tip sheets in both English and Spanish to share with parents.
