Carl J. Dunst, Ph. D. (Developmental Psychology, George Peabody College, Vanderbilt University) is Research Scientist, Orelena Hawks Puckett Institute, Asheville, NC and Research Director, Family, Infant and Preschool Program, Western Carolina Center, Morganton, NC. Previously he was Research Scientist at the Allegheny-Singer Research Institute and the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, PA. He has been engaged in applied research, evaluation, and practice for more than 15 years studying the characteristics and consequences of family resource and support programs using a person--process--outcome ecological framework for investigating these particular kinds of programs. Carl and his colleagues' books, Enabling and Empowering Families (Brookline Books), Supporting and Strengthening Families (Brookline Books), and Building and Evaluating Family Support Initiatives (Brookes Publishing Co.), describe the research findings and evidence-based practices which have been the focus of this line of work.
