This third of a series of seven conference calls was sponsored by the OSEP Part C Identification Community of Practice and the NECTAC Vulnerable Populations Initiative. State Part C Coordinators, State ICC Chairs, State Liaison Officers for Child Abuse and Neglect, federal program staff, and selected technical assistance providers were sent invitations to participate. While the call is limited was this audience, the presentation materials and audio recording are available on this Web page.
The call includeded two presentations:
- MECLI and Implementing Mandated Referrals of Abused or Neglected Children to Early Intervention
- Potential Impact of a Mandatory Offer of a Referral from Child Welfare to the Early Intervention System

Objectives
- Gain a better understanding of how the new provisions of CAPTA and IDEA may impact certain groups of young children and the EI system
- Gain a better understanding of how services provided to children referred to EI from Child Welfare as a result of the new provisions of CAPTA and IDEA can be expected to differ from those services provided to other children
- Gain knowledge of potential barriers to the implementation of these mandates
- Gain knowledge of ways to overcome these barriers
