RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INITIATING AN INCLUSIVE PROGRAM:
1. Identify key personnel to support change. To implement inclusion beyond a single classroom, identify administrators with power to back it.
2. Be sure that the key stakeholders have the opportunity to discuss and agree on how inclusion will be implemented. Having a shared approach to inclusion makes implementation more likely.
3. Provide practitioners with training, support and other resources.
4. Get support of the community. If families and other community members support inclusion, its chances of success are strengthened.
